Bathroom window

The clients were remodeling a bathroom, and wished to recreate a view of trumpet flowers from a former home. Working with photos they supplied, I created the design below. Although we live only about 20 minutes apart, we used email exclusively in sharing ideas on the design.

The window is in the shower, so they installed it on the outside of their awning window, which they will want to crank open/out. The window opens on to their sheltered entry, so heavy weather is unlikely to be an issue. They are delighted with the end result and commissioned a set of cabinet inserts as a follow-on.

Sidelight

My daughter wanted panels for the sidelights in the entry way of her home, near Chicago. She drew the original design while she was visiting, and we used email to exchange information and make changes to the design and glass choices. She wanted to be able to see out clearly in some sections (at levels for her, her husband, and their dog) while obscuring the view from the outside. I also sent her actual glass samples to facilitate her ability to choose.

I flew to her home with the panels in April, 2008. (The TSA inspectors at the airport were a bit challenged trying to decipher what the 5 stacked and wrapped panels were!) Installation was challenging, due to the existing moldings on the window, which did not accept nails. She ended up using a window glazing adhesive in the corners.

Donation Panel

Each year since I started making stained glass panels that the Angel Island Association has a benefit auction, I have created one as a donation. In 2008, the BayWood Artists created many paintings of and from the island for a benefit for the AIA. One of the artists, Sherrill Miller, gave me permission to use her painting of Perle's Beach as an inspiration for the 2008 donation. The view of Point Knox and Perle's Beach is from a vantage point off the island.
